The Daisy Family (Asteraceae)


The Daisy Family is one of the largest families of wild flowers in the UK, not only does it include what you would recognise as a traditional daisy flower but the family includes Thistles, Dandelions, Ragworts, Hawkweeds, Butterburs, Yarrows,

Burdocks, Ragweeds, Cornflowers and many more. Globally the family includes over 900 genera and 20,000 species, and many, such as species of dandelion it can be very difficult to distinguish between one species and another.
